The 2012 Seize the Day List

Life Starts’ First Birthday And The Year’s Review!

This is my list that I vow to achieve by the end of 2012, everything has to be carried out at least once but the reason there is 71 and not 365 is because a lot of the activities will be repeated and/or will take more than one day (and it leaves room to add a few!), so lets kick it off:

Meditate for at least 5 minutes every day.

Learn two sentences in another language each week.

Write at least 3 short stories by the end of the year.

              Take a flying lesson.

Stop thinking about work as soon as I get home in the evening.

              Have my portrait painted.

Eat bad food for an entire day without worrying (I’m talking burgers, fried food and  chocolateeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee).

Be the member in the audience of a TV show.

Do an indoor skydive (I’m working my way to the outdoor kind!).

           Learn to juggle properly!

Write on a blog every day.

           Gain public speaking confidence.

Create your own website (okay so I’m cheating as I’ve achieved this on day one but it’s been a long time coming so I’m letting it slide!).

Learn what all the settings on the camera mean and learn how to edit photos properly.

Go around the town in which you live as a tourist would and take photos of the beauty you find.  I’m pretty sure this counts!

Meet somebody famous and if possible get a photo with them.

Go to see something at the theatre that you’ve never seen before.

Accept a compliment (we all find it hard but it feels good too).

Go through your entire house and get rid of all unnecessary rubbish (those things in the draws and cupboards that you don’t even    remember until the 6 monthly intervals where you have to randomly go through that drawer or cupboard!)

Sign up to YouTube and create videos until you make one that has at least 100 views.  I’ve signed up!

Learn as many constellations as possible.

Have at least 4 theme weeks in the year of different places, my favourites being Mexico, France, Italy and Australia and cook recipes and learn as much as you can about those places.  All the better if you dress up and get some friends around!  I managed one week!

Eat a picnic in Hyde Park.

Learn not to sweat the small stuff.  By this I mean don’t obsess about housework, it does not matter if it’s not always perfectly clean, as long as things are still hygenic (5 minutes to clean the kitchen and bathroom is allowable) then life can go on.

Grow herbs from seed and learn their properties, how to recognise them and what they can be used for both medicinally and for cooking.

Enter a photo into a competition

Invent a new recipe (especially handy for one of those days where there’s only eggs, chickpeas and an onion left in the kitchen…..).

On a clear night workout how any planets you can actually see with the naked eye (with the help of Google, a phone app and a few books….it’s not cheating, it’s common sense!).

Make home-made face masks, hair conditioners and other body treatments and take before and after shots of your little escapade to see if it made a difference and feel good about the lack of chemicals.

Take up a hobby that you’ve always talked about doing.

Visit a must-see place in your nearest largest city.

Write down a list of your big goals each day and achieve them.  Even if your big goals don’t seem important to others.  Ticking off your 5 minutes of meditation might make all the difference to you.

At the end of each day make a mental list of all the things that make you happy.

Spend a few hours focusing on what you feel passionately about.  If you already know, spend a few hours doing that!
