And It’s Life Starts’ First Birthday And The Year’s Review!

I can’t believe it’s been a year since I first started this site, it feels completely surreal!

It has been such a huge year for me, the Seize The Day List literally changed my life!  The highlights are on my quarterly updates:

  1. First Quarter
  2. Half Year
  3. Three Quarters

But ultimately the biggest thing has been nearly fully overcoming anxieties that have plagued me for 10 years which was something that had been a huge battle but this year, with the help of a new nearly daily yoga practice (in the comfort of my own home!), revised eating habits and having a more stimulated and focused mind.

54 out of 71!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So no, I didn’t complete the entire list!

I’d say I’m disappointed but I have literally achieved more this year than I ever thought was possible so the fact that I couldn’t squeeze everything in is not something I’d even consider beating myself up about, this year has just been too productive to care.  In actuality, I will try to squeeze those activities in to 2013 so at least I satisfy those particular plans.

Plans for 2013!!!

“When I look into the future, it’s so bright it burns my eyes. ” Oprah Winfrey

So 2013 is going to be a little bit different from 2012.

As much as I adored the list and what it brought to me, I’m still learning what works for me and what I want to do with my time.  So from 2012 I’ve gained a lot of self-discipline (blogging every day and achieving plans will do that) and with those newly acquired skills, I’ve decided that 2013 I want to truly workout what I’m doing with my life and also find a way to earn money from self employment (part time initially but I would like to build it up in the long run).

As I’m still not entirely sure of the direction I want to go in, I know that I’ll need to read more, study more and commit a lot of time and energy to this but I know that this is how I want to further my self-development and I’m so excited to try it.

I’ll keep blogging with with my plans and progress as they develop and I’m hoping to spend more time on Primal Zest this coming year, which has been something I didn’t really have a lot of time to do this year because of my commitment to daily blogging on Life Starts, I don’t know if that will end up being something I can use as an income source but it is absolutely something I want to take further regardless because I truly believe that the Primal/Paleo lifestyle make such a difference to life.

Here’s to 2013!

Sunday’s Primal (Low Carb) Roast

Lee and I thought it’d be a nice idea to have a roast dinner today, as we so rarely bother but both love them, so yesterday I grabbed a couple of pork loins (one for today’s dinner and one for my lunch for the week) and roasted them at160 degrees Celsius for about two and a half hours this afternoon, covered in foil.

Not only did they look pretty but they effectively fell apart when I cut into them, they were that tender:

Roast Pork

One of my favourite things about eating Primal is that roast dinners are a lot simpler because there’s no fussing around trying to roast potatoes or make yorkshire pudding rise, so here’s my plate, tender pork, mixed vegetables with a little butter melted on top and then some pre bagged char grilled veggies on the side, which just needed a little stir frying – all very easy but  tasted great.

Primal Roast Dinner

I know the idea of going without the roasted potatoes etc. can seem like you’re really missing out and I’ll admit, there’s an adjustment phase, somehow, getting passed the idea of having those things isn’t too hard, in reality, it’s literally the less tasty things that are omitted from the meal, which isn’t a great hardship.  Sometimes I’ll go out somewhere and might have a couple of roasted potatoes or the like, with my dinner, just to see and after the first initial taste, I’m not too bothered and don’t feel like I’m missing out on much the rest of time.

What I Ate Thursday!

“If you really want to make a friend, go to someone’s house and eat with him… the people who give you their food give you their heart.”
Cesar Chavez

I’m mixing it up a little this week and have moved What I Ate Wednesday to today and finally my food is also a little more creative too (it feels like I’ve been eating breakfast bake for years!).

But this week things changed, there’s an all new work breakfast and lunch has moved on from salads!

So the brand spanking new breakfast is……..banana bread!  Okay a bit of an interesting choice but I’ve made it Primal, so it’s high protein and pretty healthy and very tasty to boot!  I’ll play with the recipe a bit and then I’ll post it on here.  It’s yet another one that lasts well and is great for eating on the go:

Lunch was pretty much nearly eaten before I took a photos because that’s how good it tastes but it is not the prettiest meal.  It’s basically a Primal take on Corned Beef Hash but obviously without the corned beef, I might add in a recipe at some point but I’ll have to work out how to make it prettier first!:

Dinner was a frozen prawn meal with frozen veg care of Lee as he volunteered to cook bless him (so the veg isn’t pure Primal and the sauce no doubt had some bad stuff in it but it tasted good and I’m not perfect)!:

Snacks were a few squares of dark chocolate, a little extra banana bread and some peanut m and ms (back to me not being perfect again!).
