When we bought our house, 3 months, or so, ago, I’m pretty sure that the fact it had a fire place was a draw but only sat in the back of our minds. However, as the days started getting colder, the potential warmth and cosiness dawned on us and today we finally got it swept and ready for use and boy oh boy has it made this house a home:
Fire Place
I swear, I’ve just spent the last half an hour gazing into it, listening to the fire crackle and it’s been absolutely beautiful. In all honesty, we’re hoping to save some money in the winter as we’ve decided that in the evenings, we’ll just heat the lounge using the fire and not heat the other rooms and save on gas that way. I’ve also found sawdust briquettes which burn longer and our better for the environment, along with environmentally friendly firelighters – we’re all set!
I’m already picturing, festive evenings curled up in front of the fire, Christmas music playing or a sweet film on the TV, or good book in hand, just enjoying the atmosphere…..I may be in love!
As for the other joy of having an open fire, don’t think it’s been overlooked:
Toasted Marshmallow
