Feeding The Ducks, Still Fun at 28 Years Old!

“Be like a duck. Calm on the surface, but always paddling like the dickens underneath.”  Michael Caine

So, I’m always up for simple, cheap and silly ways of seizing the day and I have to say, having left over bread led us to a great, old fashioned one this evening: Feeding the ducks!

Now we’ve move house, it’s probably fair to say it’s a little bit easier too as there’s a small river which is about three minutes walk away from where we live and there are groups of ducks and swans that seem to hang out around it (alas we saw no swans this evening but the ducks were still lovely!), which is pretty lovely as I love being near wildlife and so for me, a short walk to give them a little dinner is pretty great!

Any who, we wandered over and at first saw one duck, who really wasn’t remotely interested in food so we were mulling over going home, when out came another four ducks (who by the way, did not seem to like the one we’d already seen – it appears that ducks have some complex heirarchy….) and after a couple of minutes they were surrounded by bread so as to not pollute that bit of the river, we took a wander down to the other bit of the river, where the bridge was and we officially hit the mother load, ducks everywhere:

Ducks

They were honestly adorable (aside when they were nipping eachother, fighting over the bread!) and it was a nice way to spend some time this evening.

It was pretty darn lovely walking home to this too:
